Viennese Tone
Viennese Tone cymbals are the basic all-purpose cymbals used by most symphony orchestras. They are medium weight, with a "Zzzing" attack and good sustaining qualities. They produce a more balanced combination of overtones for a full-bodied sound.

German Tone
German Tone cymbals are also known as Wagnerian cymbals. They are the heaviest symphonic cymbals, with a "k-lang" attack and maximum sustaining qualities. They are dark, martial sounding and powerful. They should be purchased only when a strong, heavy sound is required.
